Keto Sauteed Spinach Recipe

Keto Sauteed Spinach Recipe – How to make the best easy low carb friendly garlic side dish recipes with simple ingredients – with the video tutorial.

Keto Sauteed Spinach Recipe - How to make easy low carb friendly spinach side dish recipes

Keto Spinach Recipe

This keto sauteed spinach recipe makes a quick and easy, tasty low carb friendly side dish to enjoy with any meal, especially on a busy weeknight.

You could also use any leafy greens you like or frozen spinach, which is budget friendly all year around. It may just need an extra minute or two to cook and allow for any extra liquid to evaporate.

Cooking spinach in the frying pan

Here are some ideas for keto diet friendly toppings and seasonings in addition to the main ingredients:

  • Salt & Black Pepper
  • Parmesan Cheese or Mozzarella Cheese
  • Italian seasoning, Basil or Oregano
  • Lemon Zest or Lemon Juice
  • Nuts – pine nuts, almonds, walnuts

I’ve used fresh garlic cloves that I crushed with a garlic press, but you could use garlic powder or already minced garlic if you like instead. Use as much as you like depending on how garlicky you’d like your sauteed spinach to be.

The cooked spinach can be enjoyed as a side with fried eggs for breakfast, or for dinner with a meaty roast meal or mixed with dairy products such as heavy cream, heavy whipping cream, mascarpone, sour cream or cream cheese to make an easy creamed spinach recipe to serve with any meal or zucchini noodles.

The easy recipe I’ve shared is for a smallish 100g/3.5 ounce carton of spinach. You could make enough to feed a crowd by using a large bag (or two) of spinach and as much garlic as you’d like.

You’ll see that the easy side dish recipe is super quick to prepare and is a flavorful, garlic infused low-carb keto plate full of creamy spinach that’s made with only a few basic ingredients.

  1. Heat oil or butter in a large skillet or frying pan over medium heat.
  2. When hot, peel and crush the garlic, using a garlic press, over the frying pan.
  3. Cook for about a minute, rinse the spinach leaves and then add them to the frying pan, along with salt and pepper, to taste.
  4. Toss the spinach and cook for a couple of minutes, until wilted, excess water has evaporated and the leafy vegetable has cooked to your liking.
  5. Remove to a plate and serve as the perfect side dish or cream sauce with any low-carb diet main course, storing any leftovers in an airtight container and enjoying within a day.

Keto Sauteed Zucchini Recipe – How to make the best easy low carb friendly fried zucchini – with the video tutorial.

Keto Sauteed Zucchini Recipe - How to make easy low carb friendly fried zucchini

Keto Sauteed Zucchini

This keto sauteed zucchini recipe makes a simple, great side dish for everyday meals or as a quick side option for special occasions and holidays like Thanksgiving or Christmas that the whole family will enjoy, especially picky eaters.

When you have an abundance of zucchini, there are plenty of ketogenic diet friendly ways to make the most of the nutritious vegetables.

From a zucchini bake, zucchini noodles or crispy keto zucchini fries to this easy keto side dish that I’m sharing with you today, which is a great way to include zucchini in your diet plan.

How To Saute Zucchini

This is such a simple dish to prepare, start by slicing zucchini into pieces. You can go for rounds, half moons or the zucchini chips shape that I went for in this easy recipe.

In the frying pan with oregano

Then, heat oil, butter or coconut oil in a frying pan and add in the zucchini once hot. You can cook just the low-carb zucchini fries if you like or add in sliced onion, garlic or any other vegetable you like to include that are your personal favorites that are low in grams of carbs.

Shake over salt, black pepper and any other seasoning you like. I simply went for oregano because I find that it complements the zucchini perfectly in the great recipe. You could also add in a little bit of garlic powder or fresh herbs to the delicious recipe.

How to make zucchini in a frying pan

Then, it’s just a matter of cooking the zucchini slices in a single layer until golden and done to your liking. Just keep tossing and keep a close eye on them so they don’t burn.

You can crumble feta or goats cheese or sprinkle parmesan cheese or mozzarella cheese over the top of the zucchini to finish off the dish with melty cheese if you like.

Serve with your low carb diet friendly meal of choice, along with a dollop of sour cream as a dipping sauce, which makes a delicious way to complete the perfect comfort food zucchini side dish.

Keto Mushroom Sauce Recipe

August 11, 2022 by Easy Keto Living

Keto Mushroom Sauce Recipe – How To Make A Quick, Simple & Easy Creamy Low Carb Sauce with garlic and mushrooms that’s perfect for steak, chicken or pork – with only 3 ingredients.

Keto Mushroom Sauce Recipe - How To Make A Quick, Simple & Easy Creamy Garlic Mushroom Sauce

Keto Mushroom Sauce

This Keto mushroom sauce is my go to sauce to have with meaty meals such as steak or chicken breasts or meat free meals such as with zucchini noodles or cauliflower rice. Really the keto-friendly recipe can be enjoyed with any meal calling our for a creamy and saucy side with incredible flavors.

The best part is that you can adapt the easy keto recipe to include as much or as little as you like of each of the simple ingredients to create the perfect mushroom, garlic and creaminess ratio for you.

You can use heavy cream or whatever cream you like in the great recipe, or swap it for coconut milk or coconut cream for a dairy free, vegan friendly sauce with creamy mushrooms. Or, stir a splash of white wine, vegetable stock, chicken stock, beef broth or chicken broth through the sauce for added flavor.

The 3 simple ingredients for the easy recipe

Choose any type of mushroom you find at your local grocery store for the mushroom flavor in the easy recipe. Choose from oyster mushrooms, cremini mushrooms, big white mushrooms, white button mushrooms or portobello mushrooms.

When making the creamy mushroom sauce to serve with ketogenic diet friendly zucchini noodles, simply add the noodles into the frying pan as soon as the sauce is ready.

You can also stir through or top the dish with parmesan cheese, cream cheese or any cheese you like for a cheesy sauce or simple ingredients such as sour cream, Dijon mustard or Worcestershire sauce for added flavor and a finished dish that’s low in net carbs.

Mushroom varieties

You can of course add in salt, black pepper, red pepper flakes, oregano, fresh parsley and any other seasoning or fresh herbs you like to the simple sauce.

If serving the creamy sauce as a side dish with steak, chicken breast or keto pork chops, the best way is to cook the sauce, set it aside in a bowl covered with a lid.

Then, cook your meat and once it’s ready you can briefly re-heat the sauce over medium heat.

I find this works best with steak which can do with a couple of minutes rest time to help develop rich flavor until ready to serve (and devour) with your cream sauce.

Cooking the keto mushroom sauce

Creamy Keto Mushroom Sauce Recipe

  • 250g/8.8oz Fresh Mushrooms
  • 2-3 Fresh Garlic Cloves
  • 1/4 Cup Cream
  1. Slice the mushrooms into bite sized pieces.
  2. Melt butter, coconut oil or olive oil in a frying pan or cast iron skillet over medium-high heat, then add the sliced mushrooms into the hot pan.
  3. Chop the garlic or place into a garlic press to crush.
  4. Add the chopped or crushed garlic to the mushrooms, along with more oil or butter when needed.
  5. Cook until the mushrooms have reduced and browned.
  6. Pour over the cream and bubble away for a few minutes.
  7. Serve and enjoy the creamy garlic mushroom recipe straight away, storing any leftovers in an airtight container to use within a few days.

You can include as little or as much onion and garlic as you like, depending on how many carbs you want to allocate to your side dish and how garlicky you want it to be.

I find that the combination of cream and sour cream make the perfect creamy sauce for the green beans. You can swap in mayo, keto yogurt, cream cheese or even luxurious mascarpone cheese if you’d like.

Regarding the cheese, I just went for simple grated mozarella, but you could add in cheddar, parmesan, feta, blue cheese or any other cheese you want for an extra cheesy casserole.

  5. Pour over the sour cream, cream and half of the cheese, then stir through until fully combined.
  6. Top the casserole with the rest of the grated cheese, adding more if needed.

These are the ingredients you’ll need for this sauce:

Sour Cream – is my creamy ingredient of choice, I love the tangy flavor and that I don’t have to worry about hidden sugars or carbs, as you sometimes do have to look out for with mayo. (You could swap for a low carb mayo if you’d prefer, if include 50/50 mayo and sour cream.)

Ketchup – find the lowest sugar tomato sauce you can to include in your sauce.

Salt – I like to keep it simple with just a generous shake of salt.

Roasted Brussel Sprouts With Parmesan

December 10, 2019 by Easy Keto Living

Keto Roasted Brussel Sprouts With Parmesan Recipe – Best Quick & Easy Low Carb Budget Friendly Cheesy, Crispy Garlic Brussels Side Dishes with the full step by step video tutorial.

Keto Roasted Brussel Sprouts With Parmesan Recipe

Roasted Brussel Sprouts With Parmesan

These roasted brussel sprouts with parmesan cheese makes a hearty keto diet friendly side dish to enjoy the next time that sprouts are in season.

Brussel Sprouts are in season at the moment here in Ireland and I’ve been finding bags of the nutritious vegetable for as low as 49 cents for 500g (around 1.1lbs), at the grocery store.

There are many health benefits of brussels sprouts, which make then a great low carb vegetable to include in a ketogenic diet. And, this delicious recipe may even tempt family members to try the dish as a side with a main course, even if they aren’t really a big fan of brussels sprouts.

If you’re new to cooking with brussel sprouts yourself, they are like little mini cabbages, especially the larger sprouts, and they have a natural nutty flavor that perfectly complements the simple ingredients that it’s cooked with, especially when it’s lots of grated parmesan cheese, like in this easy side dish.

Recipe Ingredients

If you’d like to ensure that the delicious side dish is vegetarian or even vegan friendly, just use a vegetarian or vegan parmesan alternative.

I suggest including between 2-4 Tablespoons of both olive oil or avocado oil and parmesan cheese in the recipe, because it depends on how much oil you’d like to allocate to your dish and how cheesy you want it.

Start with 2 tablespoons of each, give it all a toss and then add the other 2 tablespoons if you’d like. You can also add in a little fresh lemon juice or zest, balsamic vinegar or apple cider vinegar for added flavor to the perfect side dish.

You can also swap the cheese for any cheese you like. Or make the dish extra cheesy by including a combination of cheeses such as adding in grated mozzarella cheese or cheddar cheese.

Another option for more creaminess is to swap the oil for heavy cream to creamy creamy, cheesy brussels sprouts.

Brussel Sprouts ready to be roasted in the oven

You can use the garlic powder, as suggested. Or, crush a clove or two of fresh garlic instead or other great options are to use a little bit of onion powder, Italian seasoning or red pepper flakes, which will still keep the parmesan roasted brussels sprouts low in net carbs.

A favorite way to prepare the low carb side dish that appeals to the entire family, especially at holiday meals, is to make a meaty version with plenty of crispy bacon bits tossed through the tender brussels sprouts recipe.

Whichever way you choose to prepare this keto side dish, you’ll be rewarded with a hearty, cheesy side to enjoy during brussel sprouts season.

Keto Onion Rings Recipe – Easy Low Carb, Vegetarian & Gluten Free Side Dishes with a keto diet dipping batter – great for burgers or as a keto diet appetizer.

How to make easy keto onion rings

Keto Onion Rings Recipe

I’ve always loved onion rings as a side with burgers. So, I thought I’d come up with a Keto Diet friendly version to enjoy with low carb meals.

These onion rings are really easy to prepare, include a tasty crumb coating and taste better than their carby counterparts.

How To Make Keto Onion Rings

Low Carb Keto Onion Rings on the Baking Tray

First, pick the onion you’d like to use. I go for a large red or brown onion, which are keto diet friendly.

Then get prepared to bake the onion rings by preheating the oven to 200C/400F and line a baking tray with well greased foil.

Next, slice the onion and carefully separate each layer into onion rings.

For the dipping batter, combine ground flaxseeds, parmesan or pecorino, ground almond, paprika, garlic powder, salt and pepper together in one bowl.

In a second bowl, whisk up an egg for dipping. Then, it’s just a matter of dunking the onion first in the egg and then in the batter.

Move the crumbed onion rings to the prepared baking tray and then bake them in the oven for 7 minutes, turn the onion rings over and cook for a further 7 to 8 minutes or until golden and crisp to your liking.

  • 1/4 Cup Parmesan or Pecorino
  • 1/2 Cup Ground Almonds or Almond Flour

  • 1/2 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • Salt & Pepper, to taste
  1. Preheat oven to 200C/400F and line a baking tray with well greased baking paper.

  3. Whisk the egg in a bowl and in a second bowl make the crumb coating by combining together the ground flaxseeds, parmesan, ground almonds, paprika, garlic, salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Dip the sliced onion into the whisked egg and then the crumb coating.
  5. Place the crumbed onions onto the prepared baking tray.
  6. Once all of the onion rings are coated and the baking tray is full move it to the preheated oven.
  7. Bake for 7 minutes, remove from the oven and turn the onion rings over.
  8. Place back into the oven for a further 7 to 8 minutes or until crisp to your liking.

Keto Zucchini Side Dish on a plate

Keto Zucchini Side Dish Idea

Zucchini is in abundance and so cheap at the moment. So, I’m going through heaps of it and experimenting with all kinds of low carb, keto friendly dishes.

This Keto Zucchini Side Dish is easy, hearty and delicious. You can include as little or as much onion as you want, depending on how many carbs you want to include in your side dish.

I included oregano and salt as my seasoning combination of choice, but feel free to swap in your favourite seasoning instead.

There’s also the option to include garlic or any other vegetables. And, you could use goats cheese, feta or any other cheese to crumble over the top of your finished dish.
