5 Keto Fast Food Options

October 24, 2017 by Easy Keto Living

5 Keto Fast Food Options – Low Carb & Ketogenic Diet Fast Food Ideas for breakfast, lunch or snacks to help you lose weight.

Platter of Japanese Rare Beef

5 Keto Fast Food Options

When you’re out and about and stuck without food, here are 5 Keto Fast Food Options to help you out:

1. Bunless Burger

Bunless Burger

A bunless burger uses lettuce instead of a bun or a burger in a bowl is what it says – all the burger fillings, but in a bowl instead.

I’ve found that different fast food chains offer it in different ways, but there’s always an option to enjoy all the burger fillings – but without the bun.

2. Barbecued Chicken

BBQd Chicken

Freshly cooked barbecued chicken has little to no carbs and is a filling, low carb, high fat and high protein meal.

In Australia we have Nandos, which is where I’ll often head and share a whole chicken with my Husband. It’s the perfect meal and keeps us full for hours!

3. Japanese Beef Salad

Platter of Japanese Rare Beef

Japanese restaurants or take away stores have tons of low carb, keto friendly options.

I’ve found beautiful platters of meat or fish, as pictured above, can be a delicious meal option while out and about.

4. Breakfast

Smoothie and scrambled eggs - 5 Keto Fast Food Options

All day breakfasts are common nowadays and there are SO many keto fast food options that are breakfast items.

I’ve found smoothie bars which will make me a low carb smoothie with almond milk and less berries than usual.

Also, it’s easy to enjoy eggs on the go. I’ve found a local fast food store offering scrambled eggs with avocado and heaps of greens that I’ve enjoyed as a breakfast for lunch while out and about.

5. Meat or Meatballs

Meatballs in a sauce - 5 Keto Fast Food Options

There are so many options for take away bowls of meat or even meatballs. My local Nandos makes the above pictured meatballs, but I’ve also had success at Greek and Lebanese take away stores with ordering meat only.

As you can see, with a little imagination, you can find loads of keto fast food options while you’re on the go. I’ve found it easy to discover at least one option no matter where I am and I hope this blog post has been helpful and given you inspiration too.

Spinach and Pine Nut Salad Recipe

October 19, 2017 by Easy Keto Living

Spinach and Pine Nut Salad Recipe – Easy Low Carb Keto Diet Salad Recipes – Recipe for a green salad with nourishing pine nuts.

Spinach and pine nut salad in a salad bowl

Spinach and Pine Nut Salad

Pine nuts have almost perfect Keto Macros with 30 grams containing a wonderful 21 grams of fat, 4 grams of protein and just 1 net carb. So, I enjoy finding more ways to include pine nuts in my diet and this salad is one of the easiest!

You simply fill a salad bowl with spinach, top with pine nuts and then your dressing of choice. Lately I’ve been loving apple cider vinegar, so chose to use that and an olive oil combo.

To make the basic dressing that’s used in this salad (or for any salad), it’s simply a matter of following a 1 to 3 ratio. So, one part apple cider vinegar or your vinegar of choice to 3 parts your choice of oil (I love extra virgin olive oil).

For example if you’re making a small salad for one then drizzle over a teaspoon of vinegar and then 3 teaspoons of oil. If you’re making a large salad to feed a crowd, then go for a quarter of a cup of vinegar and three quarters of a cup of oil. Easy!

Cauliflower and Leek Mash Recipe

October 17, 2017 by Easy Keto Living

Cauliflower and Leek Mash Recipe – Low Carb & Keto Diet Mash Recipes

Bowl of cauliflower and leek mash

Cauliflower and Leek Mash Recipe

This is the third cauliflower mash recipe I’ve shared so far on my 2 month old blog.

I just LOVE experimenting with different cauliflower mash flavour varieties and you’re going to absolutely love this one!

I was inspired by a traditional Swiss recipe for Leek and Potato Mash but swapped out the carb heavy potatoes for cauliflower.

Chopped cauliflower and leek in a large saucepan ready for cooking

Leek can be a little carb heavy, depending on the size and how much you include in your mash.

Use as little or as much as you want – any chopped leek adds a wonderful flavour, so it’s up to you!

Include as much butter, cream and seasoning as you like to create the consistency you’re wanting.

Start with a couple of tablespoons or so of each and keep adding more until it’s creamy to your liking.

As you can see, I like mine to be wonderfully buttery and include a generous portion of butter to my mash.

2 Ingredient Chocolate Fat Bombs

2 Ingredient Chocolate Fat Bombs Recipe – Low Carb Keto Fat Bomb Recipes made with Dark Chocolate and without Coconut Oil which are a delicious way to hit your fat macros on the Ketogenic Diet.

2 Ingredient Chocolate Fat Bombs Recipe

When you’re on a diet like the low carb, ketogenic diet then it’s really important that you’re getting enough fat. This helps keep your energy levels up and keep you satiated.

An easy way to do this is to prepare fat bombs which, as the name suggests, provides a massive amount of fat in one tiny bite.

heart shaped candy

Depending on the percentage chocolate you use, and how sweet you want your fat bombs, you may want to add Stevia or your sweetner of choice to taste.

You’ll find that your tolerance for bitter chocolate changes as you progress through the Keto Diet.

When I started I could barely cope with 70% chocolate without adding copious amounts of Stevia. Now, however, I can enjoy 90% Dark Chocolate with little to no Stevia added.

Feel free to also flavour your chocolate with your flavouring of choice – you could use vanilla, mint or even orange for custom flavoured chocolate fat bombs.

2 Ingredient Chocolate Fat Bombs Recipe

  • 100g Dark Chocolate (85% Plus), chopped
  • 1/3 Cup Mascarpone Cheese
  1. Set up a double boiler by bringing a pot of water up to a simmer.
  2. When simmering, place a microwave proof bowl over the water, ensuring that it’s not touching.
  3. Add the chopped chocolate and mascarpone.
  4. Allow to melt gently and stir regularly.
  5. Once melted, carefully remove the bowl and allow to cool slightly.
  6. When cool enough to handle, fill a candy mold with the chocolate mixture.
  7. Place into the fridge to harden and then pop out the fat bombs from the mold and enjoy.

Low Carb Stir Fry Recipe with Beef & Vegetables - Easy Healthy Keto Stir Fry Recipes - Low Carb Budget Meals.

Low Carb Stir Fry Recipe

As you may tell from other recipes on this blog – I like to keep things really simple. The fewer ingredients the better. This recipe follows that ethos perfectly.

This is also a really budget friendly dish – you combine together frugal beef mince with whatever vegetables you have to hand to create a mouthwatering stir fry.

Regarding vegetables, you can use whatever is in season and you have to hand. I used 2 zucchini and about a dozen mushrooms, all chopped into roughly the same size so that they would cook evenly.

Here are some ideas for vegetables to include in your low carb stir fry,  feel free to choose one or more from this list:

  • Zucchini
  • Mushrooms
  • Onions
  • Garlic
  • Cauliflower
  • Broccoli
  • Peppers
  • Bok Choy
  • Spinach
