These Keto Aldi Finds will help you enjoy a whole host of low carb friendly meals, on a budget at popular Aldi supermarkets.

When you browse around the supermarket you’ll find all the ingredients you could possibly need to be able to make super easy keto approved breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and desserts too.

Healthy Fats

Healthy Fats including coconut oil and olive oil

You’ll find a mouthwatering array of healthy fats on offer at Aldi that will help you to elevate your daily fat intake to meet your macros, while also making meals so much more tasty.

Choose from butter, coconut oil or extra virgin olive oil that you can cook in, full fat dairy such as cheese, heavy cream or sour cream to add healthy fats to the side of your meal or fatty cuts of meat.

Meat and Seafood

There’s a brilliant selection of meat and seafood to choose from, including all kinds of beef, chicken, pork, salmon and tuna that are all budget friendly at Aldi.

Dairy

I always include all the dairy and cheeses in my weekly Aldi shop, as you’ll see in the video featured on this page.

This includes Greek yogurt, grated cheese, a block or two of cheese, cream cheese, brie, ricotta cheese, feta cheese and mascarpone cheese.

On a recent visit I found mushrooms for just 79 cents, which I fried up into a cheese and mushroom keto omelette.

My Aldi has a handy selection of both fresh and frozen fruit that you can enjoy simply as a snack as is or topped with whipped cream, or in a number of fruity keto desserts. (Like strawberry mousse.)

Fruit is higher in carbs than other keto foods, to aim to limit yourself to a handful a day at most in order to stay in ketosis.

In addition to the staples, you also may find limited time special offers that are low in g carbs, so there’s always something surprising in store. 

Healthy Fats

Keto Lidl Healthy Fats - Butter

Including plenty of healthy fats on a keto diet helps to achieve macro targets, and there’s plenty of options at Lidl stores that you can incorporate into all kinds of keto diet recipes. 

Here are some items that you’ll find at LIdl:

  • Butter

  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • Peanut Butter
  • Avocado
  • Sour Cream
  • Heavy Cream

Meat and Seafood

You’ll find fresh, frozen as well as prepared meats such as deli meats, just be sure to read the nutritional info carefully on packaged meats, keeping an eye out for hidden sugars that will add to your daily g net carbs count.

You’ll find almost of the possible keto approved vegetables on offer at Lidl supermarkets that you can include in your weekly meal plan.

Enjoy fresh vegetables raw in a salad or cooked into meals. Be sure to check both the fresh produce and frozen foods section for a variety of vegetables, with frozen often being more economically friendly, being easily accessible in your freezer and resulting in less food waste.

There’s a brilliant choice of keto friendly dairy options at Lidl supermarkets, with most dairy options being naturally low in g carbs and high in g fat and g protein, making them excellent additions to your food diary.

  • Cream cheese
  • Mascarpone cheese
  • Cottage cheese
  • Ricotta cheese
  • Heavy cream & sour cream

Pantry Staples

Pantry staples including almond milk and coconut milk

Stock your pantry with a selection of ingredients to be able to create and transform regular meals into tasty low carb, keto friendly dishes. 

Here are some of my favorite health options to find at Lidl stores: 

  • Almond Milk
  • Coconut Milk
  • Peanut butter
  • Ground Almonds
  • Shredded coconut
  • Seasoning – salt, black pepper, oregano, turmeric, paprika
  • Apple cider vinegar
  • Jars of pickles and olives

Snacks

The best tips I can give you for helping you stay on plan is to stock your pantry and fridge with keto-approved snack options so that you’re not tempted by foods that will see you go off plan. 

Some of my handy low-carb health friendly options include:

  • 85% Dark Chocolate
  • Nuts and Seeds – peanuts, almonds, pine nuts, cashews, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, chia seeds
  • Jerky or Pork Rinds
  • Sugar free jelly/jello
  • Halo top (or the Lidl equivalent)
  • Tea and Coffee

When you think of shopping for the Keto Diet, you can’t go past ALDI for EVERYTHING on a budget.

You’ll be able to easily (and cheaply) meet your macros thanks to all the bargains that you’ll find on low carb, Ketogenic Diet staples.

Here’s some inspiration to include on your ALDI Keto Shopping List next time.

ALDI Keto Shopping List – Protein

Smoked salmon at aldi

You’ll find good quality, wonderfully economical protein options at ALDI. A favourite of mine is smoked salmon, which is great as a side with scrambled egg for breakfast or rolled up with cream cheese as a snack.

Here are more protein options to look out for:

  • Eggs – great for breakfast, snacks, or even making Keto cookies!
  • Beef Mince – look out for higher percentages of fat for a cheaper and more Keto friendly option
  • Lamb – whole roasts and pieces for stewing or frying
  • Pork – pieces and, or course, bacon!
  • Sausages & Chorizo – read the nutrition panel carefully for hidden carbs
  • Chicken – whole and pieces, great for roasts, chicken bake, salad and stews
  • Fish & Seafood – smoked salmon, tuna, sardines and more.
  • Nuts & Seeds – to be enjoyed in moderation, ALDI is one of the cheapest places I’ve found nuts and seeds, also keep an eye out for peanut and nut butter too.

Dairy

Keto ALDI Dairy options

There are loads of delicious dairy options at ALDI, you may include a portion in your meal, or more in a dish like Cheesy Cauliflower Rice:

  • Cheese – grated, whole, brie, cream cheese, mascarpone
  • Cream – full, heavy whipping, sour
  • Butter – salted and unsalted, for various uses

Healthy Fats

As the Keto Diet is mostly made up of healthy fats, you’ll be able to find loads of lovely options at ALDI, including:

  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • Avocado Oil
  • Coconut Oil

Keto ALDI Dairy Haul

Whatever is in season, you’re going to find a bargain at ALDI. At ours they have 6 or so items a week for incredibly cheap, while the rest of the fresh produce is pretty economical too. You can also find frozen vegetable options too.

My go to vegetables are:

  • Spinach & leafy greens
  • Cucumber
  • Zucchini
  • Mushrooms
  • Broccoli
  • Cauliflower (I LOVE cauliflower soup!)

While you’re limited to the fruit you can have on the Keto Diet, you’ll find a number of options available at ALDI.

  • Fresh & Frozen Berries – strawberries, raspberries, blueberries
  • Lemons & Limes

Chocolate

Yes, you can have chocolate on Keto. And, at ALDI they have a delicious dark chocolate option which is low carb friendly. I enjoy a row every couple of days. Sometimes even heated with milk and cream in a bulletproof hot chocolate.

It is possible to simultaneously follow a Vegetarian Diet and a Ketogenic Diet. You just need to be a little creative to keep meals varied and also be sure that you’re meeting your macros and maintaining adequate health.

In this post you’ll find a list of keto foods to include on your shopping list that are vegetarian friendly too.

Vegetables & Fruit

Keto Fruit and Vegetables

Here’s a list of low carb vegetables to enjoy in meals.

  • Spinach, Kale & Leafy Greens
  • Mushrooms
  • Asparagus
  • Avocado
  • Herbs such as Mint, Oregano, Sage, Coriander, Cilantro

Be aware though that carbs can add up very quickly with nuts and seeds, so measure and count out your nuts carefully to avoid blowing all your daily macros on nuts and seeds.

Fats tend to make up 70 to 80% of a Ketogenic Diet, so you will find yourself enjoying tons of healthy fats.

  • Dairy – Cream, Cheese, Yoghurt, Butter, Ricotta

Chocolate

Yes, chocolate deserves a category on it’s own. If it weren’t for Keto Hot Chocolates, I don’t know how I would survive the Keto Diet! Choose as dark as possible (like this one) and then sweeten with Stevia or your sweetener of choice.

To help prepare meals, here are some staples to keep on hand in your pantry.
