The good news is that most of these are quick grab-n-go keto snack ideas or may require just a little bit of prep to be able to enjoy.

All kinds of cheese makes a brilliant low-carb snack that you can keep in the fridge or grab cheese slices from the grocery store for an immediate snack without any preparation. 

Here are some of my favorite cheeses:

  • Cream cheese

Butter and other dairy options

A spoonful of healthy fats can elevate the flavor and fat content of any of these snacks, helping your achieve your daily fat macros and keep you full until your next meal. 

These fats can also find themselves in an easy recipe like fat bombs, chocolate mousse, cookie dough or a hot chocolate that make sweet snacks that are ketogenic diet approved.

All of the foods in this High Protein ALDI Snacks List are low carb, keto and super budget friendly too. All of these protein-packed snacks will also help you on your way to achieving your own personal health and weight loss goals, by avoiding high carb and high sugar snacks. 

The healthy snack ideas make a great way to add to your daily grams of protein intake while also enjoying plenty of healthy fats and essential nutrients along the way too. 

Best of all, you’ll find that on your next ALDI run the grocery store tends to have all kinds of grab and go health options and new ideas at a great price. 

Nuts and Seeds

When it comes to high-protein ALDI finds, you can’t go past the brilliant selection of nuts and seeds that you’ll find on their shelves that are naturally high in protein and grams of fiber. 

We love the cashew nuts and chia seeds, but you’ll also find peanuts, almonds, walnuts and a nutritious nut selection on offer. 

You may even decide to put together a whole trail mix of nuts and seeds that you find at Aldi, then portion them out into daily high-protein snacks to enjoy on the go that’s great for overall health. 

Peanut butter, including smooth, creamy and even sometimes chocolate peanut butter are other nutty foods are handy plant-based proteins that you may find at your local Aldi that will help you meet your daily protein intake goals with the help of natural ingredients. 

Eggs

I like to make a pot of hard-boiled eggs each week to enjoy as a quick grab and go snack through the week that’s low in g carbs and high in protein and g fat. 

At some Aldi supermarkets you may even be lucky enough to find already hard-boiled eggs in an individual pack located in their pre-made quick sandwich and snack area. 

Cheese

There’s always a choice of cheeses in my fridge to enjoy as a quick, nutritious snack.

Choose from blocks you can slice yourself, already sliced cheese or wedges of indulgent cheese like brie that you can break little portions off to enjoy as a creamy snack. 

You may even choose to keep mascarpone cheese or cream cheese in your fridge to enjoy by the indulgent spoonful or spread onto a little dark chocolate for the perfect option for a sweet snacks that’s low in grams of sugar. 

Ready Cooked Meat

There’s a handy choice of ready cooked meats that are a brilliant protein source. Choose from beef, chicken, ham or even lean turkey, if that’s what you’d prefer.

My Husband and one of my kids can happily snack on tuna straight from the can, which makes a super simple snack.

I prefer to mix a bit of mayo or sour cream through tuna or spread and wrap smoked salmon slices. You may prefer to top your with a drizzle of olive oil and shake of sea salt for a quick snack that’s high in g protein. 

Yogurt

The ones that I found include artificial sweeteners, which I prefer not to include in my diet, so have a read of the ingredients list and nutrition panel to be sure that you’re happy including the protein pudding in your diet.

These zero carb snacks are the perfect keto foods to keep you nourished between meals, without blowing out your macros for the day.

I find that when I’m starting out with keto (or when I’m getting back into it after a break), I am hungry ALL THE TIME, until I become adapted to the low carb way of eating.

In those times, these foods are my lifeline. After a while though, I find that the high fat keto meals keep me full without the need for snacking, but these options still come in handy from time to time when I just need that little something extra to keep me going through the day and to help me achieve my low carb diet weight loss goals.

Cheese

Cheese Snacks

Cheese is one of my favorite zero carb snacks that’s high in healthy fats – you can choose from cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese, feta, brie, parmesan cheese, cream cheese, cottage cheese or really any cheese you like. Simply enjoy by the square or in a snack platter with a couple of other options from this list.

Meat & Chicken – Zero Carb Snacks

There are so many meat snacks to choose from that make a delicious snack and have virtually no carbs.

You can go for leftovers from a previous meal and have a piece of chicken or slice of beef, lamb or ham. Or, opt for deli meat or lunch meat that just need the package to be opened – no prep at all to enjoy a protein rich zero carb snack.

Another perfect snack option is salami sticks, meat sticks or salami, which can have little to no grams of carbohydrates but often have sugars or carbs added, so read the nutrition label carefully.

Pork Rinds, Biltong & Beef Jerky

Dried, salty, meaty protein rich snack options that you can find at stores that are keto diet friendly and can be enjoyed by the handful. Double check the nutrition panel and ingredients for hidden carbs and added sugar.

Fish & Seafood

Canned tuna and salmon

You can enjoy a can of tuna, salmon or sardines by the fork full or mix a couple of spoons of sour cream or mayo through for a speedy snack that’s naturally low in grams of carbs and high in grams of protein.

Hard Boiled Egg – Zero Carb Snacks

I like to keep a bowl full of hard boiled eggs to make a super quick grab and go carb free snack that’s a good source of protein.

I’ve also found already hard boiled and peeled hard boiled eggs at supermarkets lately which make an easy, instant store bought snack food that’s low in grams of net carbs.

Cucumber, Celery & Greens

Cucumber, celery and greens such as spinach or lettuce can be enjoyed in a salad, lettuce wrap or mixed with other ketogenic diet friendly foods such as tuna, hard boiled egg or olive oil as a great way to enjoy a tasty snack.

Olives & Pickles

Olives and Dill Pickles are carb free and can be turned into an antipasti platter or enjoyed by the spoon or hand full as a great snack.

Low Carb Nuts and Seeds

Nut and seed options

Quick grab and go low carb snack ideas include all kinds of nuts and seeds to satisfy your crunchy cravings. Choose from a healthy snack of cashew nuts, almonds, macadamia nuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds as well as nut butters such as peanut butter.

Just be sure to exercise portion control because total carbs can quickly add up, despite nuts and seeds being keto-friendly foods.

Jello or Jelly – Zero Carb Snacks

Sugar free jelly or jello make easy sweet snacks to satisfy your sweet tooth with a variety of flavors. Just read ingredients carefully and be sure you’re happy to include artificial sweeteners in your low-carb lifestyle, as they can cause an upset stomach in some people.

With Summer around the corner, we plan on taking plenty of road trips and taking along these keto road trip snacks to help keep on plan and nutritiously satisfied.

You may like to take your keto travel snacks on the go with you or you may be lucky enough to find a couple of the options at a local grocery store, truck stops or gas stations on the road that are low in net carbs.

All of these easy keto snacks should mean you can avoid junk food and fast-food restaurants wherever possible and go a long way to helping you achieve your own health and weight loss goals.

1. Cheese

1. Candied Walnuts

You can enjoy nuts or seeds by the handful as a high protein snack or you can make these sweet candied walnuts for a crunchy treat that makes a great option that will satisfy your sugar cravings.

You simply whip up an egg white until frothy, then whisk in stevia, or you could use your low-carb sweeteners of choice, along with a pinch of salt, cinnamon and vanilla extract for delicious flavor. Then, it’s just a matter of mixing through walnuts to coat and baking until golden and crunchy.  

2. Chocolate Truffles

These chocolate truffles make an indulgent keto sweet treat to enjoy over the Festive season and through the whole year too as a great keto snack that’s low in g net carbs and high in grams of fat.

You’ll find that the lowest carb yogurt options are usually plain, natural or Greek yogurt. You can enjoy it as is or mix through stevia or your sweetener of choice and whatever keto flavor you like.

You could also grate over a sugar-free chocolate bar for a chocolate parfait, or sprinkle over a few teaspoons of chia seeds or pumpkin seeds for added dietary fiber. 

7. Chocolate Cupcakes

8. No Bake Cookies

When you’re craving cookies but don’t feel like baking, these no bake keto cookies are perfect. They are nutty and make a brilliant low carb snack.

This low-carb diet friendly version has peanut butter, but you could swap to use almond butter and also add sugar free chocolate chips into the cookie dough for chocolate chip cookies.  

9. Strawberry Milkshake

A smoothie or shake makes a quick low carb snack. This strawberry milkshake or my keto chocolate smoothie has only a few ingredients each and makes a sweet berry treat.

Simply blend together almond milk or coconut milk, along with your choice of low carb high-fat foods as a great way to create the perfect keto sweet treat. 

10. Ice Cream

You can either enjoy store bought keto-friendly ice cream, such as the popular Halo Top brand, or can easily make no churn dark chocolate ice cream yourself.

Best of all, the easy recipe has only 4 ingredients – eggs, stevia, heavy cream and cocoa powder.

11. Lemon Mousse

This light lemon mousse is great to keep in the fridge and snack on when you crave something sweet. It tastes like a lemon cheesecake but without the sugars or carbs.

12. Waffles

These waffles with coconut flour have only 4 ingredients and make a protein and fiber rich snack and are lovely topped with chocolate chips.

13. Chocolate Mousse

Homemade strawberry chia jam is always in my fridge to incorporate into keto sweet treats like a yogurt parfait, top waffles or pancakes with or mix into smoothies.

These Keto Candied Walnuts make delicious sweet low-carb snacks, Festive treat or tasty topping for a salad.

Walnuts are one of the best keto nuts to include in your diet that are naturally low in g net carbs and high in g fiber, g protein and healthy fats.

The best part is that you can enjoy the easy keto snacks in a number of different ways, from snacking on them by the handful to using them as a topping for keto ice cream, smoothies or a healthy yogurt bowl. 

The Simple Ingredients For The Easy Recipe

To make the perfect snack, you’ll need the following handful of ingredients that are all naturally low in grams of net carbs:

Walnuts – you can use sliced, chopped or halved walnuts. (Or really any healthy nuts you like in this ketogenic diet friendly recipe.)

Egg White – only an egg white is needed and gently whisked until foamy to help all of the ingredients stick to the walnuts, without the need for honey, maple syrup or other sugar loaded ingredient usually used in candied nuts.

I like to save the egg yolk in a separate bowl and use it in an omelette or scrambled eggs, so nothing is wasted.

Stevia – use stevia or your low carb keto sweetener of choice, such as monk fruit sweetener, that you usually include in keto desserts, and as little or as much as you’d like depending on how sweet you’d like your recipe to be to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Vanilla Extract & Pinch of Salt –  each a great addition to balance the flavors in the sweet treat.

Cinnamon – use 1/2 to 1 teaspoon, depending on how much of a rich cinnamon flavor you want with your delicious snack.

How to make low carb sugar free roasted walnuts

Keto Candied Walnuts Recipe

  • 1 Egg – white only
  • 1-2 Tablespoons Stevia or Sugar Substitute
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • Salt
  • 0.5 to 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 7 Ounces/200g Walnuts
  1. Preheat the oven to 250F/120C, line a baking sheet with baking parchment paper and grease it well.
  2. Separate the egg, moving the white to a large mixing bowl and saving the yolk to use in scrambled eggs, an omelette or another low carb diet friendly recipe.
  3. Use a wire whisk to briefly whisk the egg white until frothy.
  4. Add the stevia and whisk in to incorporate.
  5. Add the vanilla, a pinch of salt and the cinnamon and whisk until fully combined.
  6. Add the walnuts and stir through to fully coat the nuts in the sweet batter.
  7. Move the nuts to the prepared baking tray, flattening them down so they are spaced out in a single layer.
  8. Place into the preheated oven and roast for 15 minutes baking time.
  9. Remove from the oven, flip the nuts over and return to the oven for a further 15 minutes.
  10. Remove the nuts from the oven, flip them and return to the oven for a final 15 minutes or until golden brown and cooked to your liking.
  11. Once perfectly roasted, remove from the oven, allow to cool completely to room temperature to further crisp up and then enjoy, storing leftovers in an airtight container to enjoy within a couple of days.

1. Eggs

Eggs are brilliantly versatile and make an excellent snack. You can enjoy them hard boiled, devilled, fried, scrambled on in an omelette.

2 Ingredient devilled eggs are really easy to make. Simply scoop the yolk out of a hard boiled egg and mash, together with sour cream, yogurt or mayo.

Then, fill the egg white with the creamy egg yolk and enjoy. You could also top with devilled egg with salt and pepper if you like.

You can simply peel back a lid from a tin of tuna and enjoy! Or, move the tuna to a bowl and mix through sour cream, yogurt, mayo, cream cheese or even pesto for a keto friendly tuna mayo.

You can even make cheese crackers by placing a tablespoon of grated cheese in a hot frying pan until it melts and then turns crisp and becomes a cracker.

Bonus snack – you could also enjoy sunflower seed butter or peanut butter by the spoon full as an cheap keto snack.

5. Chocolate

You could just enjoy a piece of chocolate or turn a row into a hot chocolate with a cup of warmed almond milk, which you freely enjoy on keto.

6. Frozen Berries

Frozen is usually cheaper than fresh and you can enjoy a small handful on keto.

You can whip up a quick smoothie with whatever milk you usually enjoy or top a portion with budget friendly whipping cream.

7. Green Salad

You can put together a quick green salad with a selection of low carb vegetables like spinach, avocado, celery and then drizzle over extra virgin olive oil and salt.

You can top your salad with other cheap keto snacks like berries and feta too.

8. Avocado

Skip a salad and just indulge in an entire avocado. They can be budget friendly or ridiculously expensive, depending on the time of year and where you live.

They are regularly 80 to 99 cents near me and make an easy low carb, high fat and fiber snack.

9. Low Carb Yoghurt

Plain, Natural or Greek yoghurt are the lowest carb options and make an easy, go to snack.

You can sweeten yoghurt with stevia or your sweetener of choice, mix through frozen berries, cream or even cocoa powder for a chocolate indulgence.

10. Leftovers

Seriously just embrace leftovers! Whatever you have lurking in your fridge from the previous meal (or meals) turn into snacks to see you through until the next meal!

Whether that’s leftover roast chicken, steak, stir fry or curry. Serve out a small portion as a snack and enjoy!

Cheap Keto Soup Snack

Soup (like my easy cauliflower soup) makes a hearty, cheap keto snack which can easily turn into a meal.

You could boil up a whole pot of soup over the weekend and then just heat up a mug full when you’re after quick cup of homemade soup.
